McGreal sacked by Colchester Utd

Former Ipswich defender and fan favourite John McGreal has been sacked by League 2 Colchester Utd.

This comes on the back of the U's failure to win promotion back to League 1following defeat in the League 2 playoffs.

McGreal had been in charge for four years and has been seen by Town fans as an Ipswich manager of the future.

However, Colchester Utd chairman Robbie Cowling announced that the club

were seeking a new first-team head coach with the club looking to become even more "tightly aligned" with the academy.

A move many clubs following COVID-19 will be looking to make.
